Trip to Nebraska!

Here are a few of the pictures taken when we went back to Nebraska October 9-11. Lincoln did so well on the 4 hour drive. He slept the whole time and I just woke him up half way through to feed him. We'll enjoy these easy trips while we can! Hopefully he'll always be a good traveler but we may not be so lucky. Lincoln got to meet lots of new people including Great-Grandparents, Great-Aunts and Uncles and family friends. We hadn't been back to Nebraska since before my water broke back in May so it had been close to 6 months. That's the longest we've gone without coming back and it was so strange to finally travel and now with a new addition :) Lincoln and I are planning a trip back in a week for a few days and then we'll be back for both Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Tests....

I apologize that it's been so long since I've posted anything on here! I've been sick the past week and a half and things have just been pretty busy around here. I took Lincoln to the hospital yesterday, the first time I've been back to St. Joe since Lincoln was discharged it was SO weird! Lincoln had to get a Barium swallow test done to see if he had any kind of reflux. He hasn't been eating very well and is spitting up quite a bit, choking a lot, coughing and these are all signs of acid reflux. So we get to the hospital and check in and get all ready and the radiologist comes in to ask when Lincoln had eaten last and I told him about an hour and a half ago. The problem was, Lincoln needed to be really hungry to do the test because he has to drink this yucky Barium stuff. So after already waiting quite awhile, we had to go wait for another hour in the waiting room for Lincoln to get hungry! That was a long hour because once he did start getting hungry he was hard to console and just cried.

So he finally had the test done and they could tell right away that there weren't any problems with constant reflux. The Dr. said he could have a little bit of reflux every once and awhile but he didn't see any problems. Which is great! But it doesn't explain why Lincoln isn't eating well and having some of these problems. So we'll see what my Dr. wants to do next.

3 Months Old Already!

It's true what they say about how time flies when you're having fun. Not that all of this has been fun (the 6 weeks Lincoln had in the NICU) but having him home has been SO much fun! He's such a joy and he just makes my heart melt every time he smiles at me and makes his adorable cooing noises. Just these past few weeks he has been "talking" a lot more and smiling all the time! He's over 9lbs now and 21 1/2 in. long. He's barely on the charts when he goes to the Dr. but at least he's on there! He's below the 1 percentile on everything. It's actually so fun going to the Dr. with him because, I don't know how many of you know this, but his Dr. is Teri Ernst. She is my dad's cousin. So it's so fun to go to someone who knows our family. She likes to parade him around the office and tell everyone how well he is doing considering his circumstances. She said at our last visit that he is the healthiest preemie she has ever seen! There were so many things that could've happened to him. He could've been born at 24 weeks and been super super tiny, he could've had bleeding on his brain, he could've had underdeveloped lungs and possibly not have made it because of that or been on Oxygen for a really long time, or eye problems, hearing problems, he could've had to come home on a heart monitor or had sleep apnea or acid reflux and the list goes on and on but those are the main problems that a preemie faces. HE HAS NONE OF THEM! There is only one reason for this and it's because our Heavenly Father chose to spare him from them. I'm still totally amazed at the whole thing. For some reason God chose to bring Lincoln into this world in a very difficult way and for reasons we may not know until we can ask Him in heaven some day.

Anyway....here are some recent pictures of Lincoln. Hope these will make do for the Grandma's until we can come see them this weekend! Yes you heard me right we are traveling to Nebraska this weekend to go see family. It's our first long drive with Lincoln so please pray for us! :)
