But as I am having to continually realize, my plans are not God's plans. And it's not about what "I wanted" for the day it's about the fact that we are promising to raise Lincoln to know and follow God. And we were blessed to be surrounded by our church family and friends.
As it worked out, Lincoln was born in July and back at our church, River, in Wichita, they only do baby dedications once a year....the following May. We moved in April and Tyler was gone for the next 5 months so we weren't going to have it done while he was gone and then we moved here and we were finally given the opportunity to dedicate our sweet boy. (so in case anyone was wondering, that's why he's older, not that it really matters)
Here is a video of the dedication [thanks Joe for recording it for us!]
Deuteronomy 6:4-9
Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one.5 Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. 6 These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. 7 Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. 8 Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. 9 Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.
Lincoln is such a special gift from God and we are thankful
to be able to dedicate him back to the Lord.
Sweet little Collin is only 2 months old!
Linc man was a little out of it apparently [doesn't he just look adorable in his vest and tie?! Got the outfit for $6.25 at Kohls....because you know me, I HAVE to share when I get a great deal! :)]

Oh wow Marie, this was a beautiful post, thank you for sharing it. You and Tyler are great parents and role models to Lincoln, showing him how to love and serve such an awesome God.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I love the picture during the prayer, it looks like Lincoln is closing his eyes and praying too.
