many uses for duct tape

My brother has a very unique talent making almost anything out of duct tape. He has made wallets, roses, purses, bags, folders, calla lilies, banners, corsages, etc.

He just got done making his back pack for school this year. It turned out pretty great.

His awesome sister modeling the bag :)
Yep....I missed my calling.... I would've been a great model! HAHA
Trey, staring off into the distance thinking about all the great times he will have with his duct tape back pack this school year...

He's also selling this Zebra purse on ebay RIGHT NOW if you are interested :)

one last D.C. visit

Well Sunday I leave for my last trip out to D.C.  It's crazy that these 5 months are almost over!  I'm so excited to be with my hubby again.  The only sad part of this trip is that Lincoln isn't going to be coming with me.  We debated back and forth about it (because Tyler REALLY wants him there of course but we'll be making a 6 hour drive in the TRUCK and he's just getting really hard to fly with by myself).  So the grandparents get to keep him (I REALLY had to pull their arms to do this! haha) until we get back Wednesday Sept. 1.

I have so much to pack and yet I'm sitting here bloggging....go figure.  All of our "stuff" is still packed in LaVerne's trailer at the farm but we'll have to unload it into my parents garage next Thursday and then Friday the Movers will come and load it all up again.  I have to decide which of that stuff I'll be needing for this next month because we won't see it until Oct. 10!  So lots of sorting is in my very near future.

I forgot until now that I haven't posted much about our last trip to D.C.  We were able to do a little more touring of the Smithsonians, a sculpture park and the Federal Triangle.  Here are some pictures from our little "outing."  :)

This sign said that the "Werner's" were around the corner....they weren't :(
 Abe Lincoln's hat
 Wizard of Oz
Dorothy's shoes....I can relate to her a little more..."We're not in Kansas anymore, Toto." :(

 Rawr!

It was SO crowed, especially in the dinosaur room....
Lincoln was scared of this one!
He looks like he's checking out something over there
 Hope Diamond
These pigeons wouldn't leave Lincoln alone!
This guy was SO good, play on those buckets and singing
Interesting Spider sculpture in the Sculpture Garden
Awesome fountain we found...but beware the fountain police!  They'll get ya if you even think about trying to wade in there.
 A daddy and his boy
 Segway tour
One last picture of the capitol...never did see the inside....oh well!

Ok just a quick sidenote in here to brag on my hubby for a second....he got an award....because he's smart...go figure :)  So extremely proud of him!

decisions, decisions.....oh the life of a 1 year old!

Lincoln LOVES sucking on lemons, so the other day I had one in my water and gave it to him to have. He sucked on it until all the "fruit" of it was gone and then just kept on sucking on the rind (is that was it's called?).

He had it in his mouth while he was playing with his toys for a good 20 minutes and then.....

...he found a binkie that he NEVER liked as a baby
which one do I want?
The lemon???
Yummy! :)
Nope, the binkie won!

It was so cute watching him try and decide which one to put in his mouth.  He was thinking so hard and switching back and forth between the two for quite awhile but then in the end decided that the lemon had seen better days and the binkie came through! Oh how hard the life of a 1 year old is!  Those are TOUGH decisions!

pop out tunnel

Lincoln got this awesome set of pop up tents/tunnel for his birthday from Noah :) We had gotten the tunnel out a couple times to see if L wanted to play in it and it wasn't the greatest hit. He was too scared to crawl in it and play. So my brother Trey saw it in the box and got all excited so we got it out and started playing with it. Lincoln wasn't so sure at first but after awhile he finally crawled through it!

Trey excited about the new "toy" :)
Trying to figure out the tent
Lincoln being a bystander and watching, not so sure about it all
Yes he was THIS excited!
He slowly was able to coax Lincoln into trying it out
Here he comes!
Wait!  I changed my mind!  Get me outta here!
Ok, maybe I'll try it again

Uncle T and Linc
Crawling through the tunnel to Gma Hunni
They had fun playing together
Then Grandma decided she wanted to play :)  Where's Grandma?
There she is!!
Lincoln wanted to disappear too

I think he had a good time playing in the tunnel. Thanks Noah for the awesome present! Now where are we going to put it in our new house? hmmmm....

let the countdown begin...!

disclaimer: Lincoln's Grandma's and Grandpa's should stop reading here. The following post contains information about moving away that will make you sad :(

The countdown:
15 days until Tyler is done!
16 days until He comes back to see family for a week.
21 days until we MOVE
23 days until we get there
and.....
131 days until Christmas when we will FOR SURE be back (possibly be back sooner but not for sure)

I can't believe our time here with family is drawing to it's end. Don't get me wrong because I have really enjoyed being here and having so much family to be with while we were without hubby/daddy. It REALLY helped A LOT and I can't thank my family enough for putting up with us taking over their house for so long! (Thanks, mom! ) But I am SO excited to start our "new life" together again! It's like we're newlyweds again and starting out on our own in a new place. It'll sure be an adventure and I can't wait to be with my hubs again! I miss him so much!

These last 5 months have sure been a growing season for me. Until now I was a very dependent person. I depended on Tyler for too many things and didn't know how I would take care of Lincoln without him! I've learned that, as with everything else in life, you just rise to the occasion. I have learned how to do the "single mom" thing - and it was NOT easy. I'm so thankful I won't have to do it much longer.
15 days...ready or not, here we go!

what do you think?

Ok so here is the question of the year.  Who does Lincoln look like?  I posted both mine and Tyler's 1 year pictures and then Lincoln's 1 year picture.  Who do you think he looks the most like?  I personally think he looks more like Tyler. :)
