Saying "I Do" 50 years ago....

My Grandma and Grandpa Wert (Mom's parents) are celebrating their 50th Wedding Anniversary coming up in June so Lincoln and I went and spent an afternoon helping Grandma sort through pictures for a slide show and I talked her into getting out her Wedding dress, invitations etc.  It was so neat!  Even though the dress wasn't sealed in a box it was still in pretty good condition!

The mess we made sorting pictures!

More mess

Lincoln really liked looking out the door and watching cars drive by

Grandma's 80th Birthday

My Grandma Hunnicutt turned 80 years old this last week and we got the opportunity to celebrate with her and some of our family at Nita's Bed and Breakfast here in Aurora.

It started out with my dad and his brother's and sister picking up Grandma in one of Harv's Classic Cars and bringing her to Aurora.

Here they are pulling into Nita's

It was so fun getting to celebrate with you Grandma!  This is just one of the many perks of living back here for awhile, we get to be apart of so many more family functions and parties!  Happy 80th Birthday Grandma, We Love you!

Bed Rest Babies

I had the chance to meet up with a close high school friend of mine this past week  She just had a precious baby girl 6 weeks ago but was on bed rest for a long time but was able to keep that little girl inside until she was full term!  Way to go Kate!  We got to reconnect as we shared experiences with our pregnancies.  Then she called and said she was in town for a couple days and we got to meet each other's little miracles!

This is little Miss Adelie Grace

Kate and her little girl

Lincoln and Adelie meeting each other for the first time.
He LOVED her toes!

Kate and I with our babies!
Lincoln loves to eat my jewelry :)

I loved getting to see Kate and Adelie and wish we lived closer to each other!  She looks SO good for just having a baby only a few weeks ago!  It's amazing how God used each of our pregnancies to reconnect with each other and I was able to use my experience of bed rest to help encourage Kate on her journey.  God truly doesn't waste any trials or pain in our lives.

"And we know that in all things, God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to His purpose." Romans 8:28

Warning.....Cuteness to Follow: Side Effects May Include Baby Fever :)

I'm going to be putting lots more videos of Lincoln on here and they aren't necessarily of anything special but they are for Tyler :)  He wants to see him little boy in action!  So this is the beginning of lots of videos to come!

And We've Got a Bite!

On our house that is.  I don't think I posted this but a couple weeks ago our prospective buyers backed out because they were having a baby and they didn't think our closing dates would work for them etc.  So we relisted it two weeks ago and we hadn't even had ANY showings.  This was so different for us because the first week we listed it we had multiple showings each day!  Well anyways, we had a showing today at 1pm and our realtor called me tonight to say we had an offer!  It's not a great offer but we're willing to accept it!  So pray with me that this contract goes through (it's contingent on the closing of their house) and we can sell our house!

Just trusting God's best for our family and future!

Teething....

....is not fun (for me or Lincoln!).  Poor little guy finally has a little bump on his bottom gums and is in a LOT of pain.  It's really messing up his schedule (which I LOVED by the way, his schedule that is, not his messing it up).  We went from sleeping through the night to waking up multiple times because his mouth hurts.

Along with his hurting gums, he has a hurting head.  Lincoln just wants to go, go, go and it's already getting him some bumps and bruises.  I'm trying to baby-proof my parents house but that is easier said than done with laptops everywhere, cords for those laptops, a rocking chair that Lincoln insists on trying to climb on (and it usually ends up with him slipping and falling unless I'm there to catch him) and the list goes on.

I'm not so sure how I feel about this mobility thing.  I can't get anything done!  He is everywhere and wanting to pull up to everything.  I'll just have to adjust somehow and figure out a new way to get things done.

We sure do miss Tyler.  He's only been gone a week and a half and 18 1/2 weeks left to go!  I booked my ticket (since Lincoln doesn't need one, thank goodness!) for May 20-June 1 to go out and see him.  This next month can't go fast enough!

My Little Helper

Lincoln loves to help me do things. He was helping me put pop out on the table at the Albion Outreach

He decided the folded laundry would make a nice bed

Ok so maybe Mommy just thought it was cute!

Lincoln likes to "help unfold" the laundry :)

9 Months

I finally got around to taking Lincoln's 9 Month picture with his bear!  It got a little crazy around here with the move and everything that I couldn't find the bear for awhile and then I completely forgot for a few days.  Here he is!  First picture that he isn't be propped up by the couch or anything!

I'm 9 Months old!

This one is a little blurry but I love his smile!

He's Unstoppable Now!

Not Slowing Down Anytime Soon

Well I've been sitting here awhile trying to organize my thoughts into a blog-worthy post but can't come up with anything creative or organized so you will just a get a little bit of this and a little bit of that.  Well to start off my little Linc-man has officially started the "hands and knees" crawling!  He has been getting up on his hands and knees for a long time now and then last week started to move like he was crawling but wouldn't go anywhere and then last night he went half-way across the living room at Gma and Gpa Rempel's!  He is unstoppable now!  Crazy kid has so much energy that it sometimes gets him hurt.

That leads me to the next new thing that Lincoln is doing.  Pulling himself to standing on EVERYTHING!  You name it he has pulled up on it.....laundry basket, couch, stairs, door, toys and now HIS CRIB!  I know this because of a huge bump he got today on the side of his head from falling after pulling himself up in the crib twice!  He is so excited to get to pull himself up that he has no idea that it takes balance to stay UP!  Today after he pulled himself up to the couch I watched to see what he would do (while prepared to catch him at any moment) and he just turned himself around and dove to the floor!  I caught him of course but this guy has no fear of falling!  I see a lot of bumps and bruises in our (mostly his) future.

Apparently Lincoln has been brushing up on his computer skills because he somehow managed to fix my computer's internet connection problem yesterday.  My dad had been working to try and solve the problem for quite awhile when Lincoln happened to lean forward onto the computer and pushing some buttons (we have no idea which ones) and voila!  it was fixed!  I just laughed and Lincoln looked up at me like, "what'd I do?" :)

The little computer genius :)

I've been able to talk to Tyler everything night so far and he is doing well.  VERY busy right now getting things figured out and studying.  We found out that he will be able to get a wireless internet card for his computer and we'll get to skype, hopefully starting sometime next week.  We miss him TONS already but I booked our tickets for our first visit at the end of May.  I can't wait to go see him!

Easter Cookies

I have never decorated cookies before (it shows in the picture below) but this was so much fun!  We celebrated Easter with Tyler's family the day before Easter and after supper we decorated cookies that Marta had already cut out and cooked.

The Beginning of Something New

Yesterday was the first day of this new and crazy adventure we are taking on!  Tyler reluctantly left a teary wife and Lincoln (who had no idea what was going on) about 8am and got into Louisville around 8:30pm (LONG day driving).  He stayed with some friends of friends and got back on the road about 9:00 this morning and should get to Virginia around 5 or 6 tonight.

Lincoln and I left yesterday morning and made the 4 hour drive (my first long trip with just me and Lincoln) to Nebraska.  The trip went really well and we're in the process of getting settled in here at my parents house.

Last night I kind of came to the quick realization that this is going to be a long 5 months without Tyler.  Our first chance to fly out and see him won't be until May 20.  This will be the longest stretch of time without getting to see him for the 5 months.  After this trip I've tentatively planned each trip 3-4 weeks apart.

I'm excited for the opportunity to be able to get this time here with family.  Tonight after Mom gets off work Lincoln and I are heading with her to Albion for an Outreach with my parents church.  I love going to these outreaches and am so excited for what God has in store for tonight's message.

I'm definitely going to be busy these next couple weeks Hope has showers the next two weekends (one of which I'm throwing! yay!) and then heading back to Wichita (yay!) for a garage sale with my awesome friend

Well I better get back to unpacking everything!

9 Months Old and VERY expressive!

Lincoln is 9 months old today! I have no idea where our bear is packed so we'll have to wait until next week sometime to get his picture with the bear. Here is a collage a friend of mine made after babysitting Lincoln a week ago. My little guy has so many expressions. Oh my!

He sure makes us laugh!  It'll be interesting to see if he is always so expressive as he grows up.

9 month stats:
Weight: almost 15lbs!
Length: 27 in. (He is is almost too long for his infant carrier car seat)

Lincoln has his own way of getting around.  He's slowly getting the crawling thing but it's just faster for him to plant both of his hands out in front of him and just pull himself forward (his own version of the army crawl).  He's finally sitting up on his own (will still topple over every so often).  He's babbling all sorts of words and even starting to say "da da" a couple times :)
We are all done with Physical Therapy (yay!)
Lincoln is eating all kinds of foods now (avacados, bananas, peas, green beans, carrots, squash, cereal, pears, peaches, etc.........)  He is such a good eater and eats quite a bit during the days but just has so much energy he burns it right off :)

Our little Energizer Bunny - He just keeps going and going and going.......

Like Father, Like Son

Like Father, Like Son
I didn't realize just how much they looked alike until I took this picture!  Tyler was doing the "Lincoln" face not realizing that Lincoln wasn't doing his normal face!  :)

Playing outside on beautiful day in Nebraska

This is how you do it, Daddy

Go get him!

Love this one!

Tyler is getting ready to leave for Virginia for 5 months of training for his new job on Friday.  Although it's going to be hard being apart from him for so long (we'll get to visit on weekends) I'm so excited for him.  He's waited quite awhile to get the opportunity to do something that he really enjoys.  Lincoln and I are so proud of him!  I love you Tyler and can't wait to see what God has in store for our family in the coming months/year!

Whew....what a day.

Well we made it!  Today was our moving day and we were so blessed to have a beautiful day for it!  Tyler's parents were nice enough to drive their huge trailer down for us to load up and we had my dad's truck to load up as well.  We thought that maybe after going through everything and getting rid of so much stuff we were be able to get everything between the trailer and the two pick ups.  Well turns out we needed just a little extra room so we went and got a uhaul and headed up to NE around 3pm.

Apparently I forgot that I needed to pack separately for moving and for our Easter stay.  I just packed most everything for moving and now since it's not unloaded (we'll do that tomorrow) I don't have things like my make up bags (with contacts stuff etc.) and diapers (we did find those though!)  I thought I was all prepared for this and just overlooked how I was packing things.  Oh well.  We'll live.

Just thought I'd let you all know how it went.  We'll be up here through Easter and then back to Wichita for next week until Tyler goes to VA.  It's looking like he'll drive out there (21 hours!) and have to leave Friday April 9.

Well I'm pretty exhausted and the bed is calling my name so I hope everyone has a great Easter weekend!
